George of Garden of Eden will pick you up on the beach and take you in his boat out to the frigate bird colony in the lagoon at the center of Barbuda. This is the largest colony in the Eastern Caribbean and the birthplace of most of the Frigate birds in the Eastern Caribbean. The males inflate and display a large red pouch under their beak to attract the attention of the females. There is a great display of aerial acrobatics as the males fetch and fight over nesting materials. The (relatively) small fluffy white birds are the chicks - one per nesting couple. These birds are fabulous flyers which snatch fish on the fly because they cannot take off from the water.
