The BYOB Regatta is sponsored by the "Wobbly Club", a self appointed band of eccentrics. It is held every year at the Catamaran Marina in Falmouth, Antigua and its participants consist of crews from the many yachts in the harbor and local craftsmen. The official rules call for 2 1/2 hours to construct a boat from the supplied materials: 1 & 1/2 sheets of the thinnest, holeist plywood they can find, serveral lenghts of knotty 1x1, a bag of dull roofing nails and slow drying mastic. The boats must be completed and carried to the beach just east of the marina for a Le Mans start. The rules are generally honored in the breach and particularly egregious violations are cheered. The 2007 BYOB Regatta attracted 27 entries and first place was taken by the crew of Felicita West. Sojoana won the Best Child's Entry . Freddies Floating Freaks won Biggest Cheaters. Chippy's won Best Design. Phoenix won something too, but I'm not sure what. Doesn't matter. Good fun.
